EDF Renewables and Alliant Energy reported that the 200 MW Golden Plains wind project entered commercial service and is providing Iowa consumers with renewable electricity.
Located in the counties of Winnebago and Kossuth in the north central part of Iowa, the project pumped millions of dollars into the economy and employed hundreds of employees at the peak of construction.

The Golden Plains wind project is part of Alliant Energy’s plans to produce 1,299 MW of wind generation in Iowa by the end of 2020.
The 82 GE wind turbines will produce enough renewable energy to power an average of 73.000 homes annually.
