Another commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) that Gondan Shipyard is constructing for the Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind has been launched at its shipyard in Figueras, Spain.
The vessel, created by Salt Ship Design, is ready for the installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology thanks to funding from Enova SF, a government organization in Norway charged with boosting energy efficiency.
The 88.3-meter CSOV has a 120-person capacity (93 technicians and 27 crew members), a 3D motion-compensated gangway for personnel transfer with a maximum range of 30 meters, a 3D offshore crane, and an integrated elevator with a 26-person capacity.
This vessel is the third in a line of six built to transport technical staff for the installation and upkeep of offshore wind turbines. The hydrogen-ready Edda Breeze, which was chartered by Ocean Breeze to offer services for the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm in Germany, was the first CSOV that Edda Wind received in May of last year.
Another CSOV was launched by Gondan Shipyard with the intention of being placed in the North Sea to facilitate the commissioning and building of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm’s first two phases.
