Greece has announced a new tender for the construction work on gas pipelines, specifically focusing on the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) activities for the CS1/MS1 Compressor and Metering Station of the EastMed Pipeline Project.

The tender, published on July 25, 2024, invites qualified contractors to submit their bids by September 9, 2024. The issuing organization, the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator (DESFA), aims to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the EastMed Pipeline Project through this tender.

The primary objective of the tender is to facilitate the construction and installation of key components in the EastMed Pipeline Project: the CS1/MS1 Compressor and Metering Station. This project is pivotal for the pipeline, which aims to transport natural gas from the Eastern Mediterranean region to Europe, ensuring a diversified and secure energy supply.

Key requirements

– Engineering Design: Bidders are expected to present detailed engineering plans for the construction of the compressor and metering station, ensuring compliance with international standards and safety regulations.

– Procurement of Materials: The contractor must source high-quality materials suitable for gas pipeline construction, emphasizing durability and reliability.

– Construction Activities: This involves the actual building of the compressor and metering station, requiring expertise in gas infrastructure and adherence to stringent safety protocols.

– Commissioning and Testing: The successful bidder will be responsible for the initial system checks and tests to ensure the infrastructure operates efficiently and safely from the outset.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the compressor and metering station include advanced engineering solutions that help optimize the flow of gas through the pipeline. This involves incorporating state-of-the-art technology to monitor and control gas pressure and volume accurately. Technologies such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems may be utilized to provide real-time data and ensure operational efficiency.

Furthermore, safety systems are paramount. The project calls for the installation of robust safety mechanisms to prevent leaks, manage pressure levels, and ensure the integrity of the pipeline and station infrastructure.
