The third edition of the Green Hydrogen Innovation Program, which serves as a national catalyst for the development of green hydrogen technology, has recently begun accepting registrations. The programme intends to promote research into and production of green hydrogen, a source of clean, renewable energy that helps cut carbon emissions.
The H2Brasil project, which is a component of the Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development, is promoted by the Brazil-Germany Alliance for Green Hydrogen. It is carried out by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (GIZ Brasil), with funding provided by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany.
The Program aims to aid new ventures engaged in the manufacture, distribution, and use of H2V. The deadline for registration is April 27.
The goal of the initiative, according to Bernd dos Santos Mayer, coordinator of the H2Brasil project’s Green Hydrogen Innovation Component, is to encourage the growth of H2V in the nation and spread knowledge on the subject to inform the populace and support the Brazilian market.
“Our goal with the programme is to spread awareness of the topic of green hydrogen, to further inform the public about it, and to encourage the Brazilian market to make use of its advantages, especially in 2023. Currently, we are more interested in solutions that focus on H2V logistics and take a value chain-wide approach “He claims.
They are allowed to take part in the so-called startups that have been founded in Brazil with CNPJ and are made up of teams of at least three adults.
The business must have been established for at least 10 years, have up to R $ 16 million in revenue, and have a verified MVP. Eight projects will be chosen, and they will each receive training and tools to help them create novel and long-lasting solutions.
Agnaldo Freire, the Director of Innovation at the State Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Secti), claims that “this is an opportunity for companies to be able to apply their technologies, their solutions, and contribute to the development of the value chain of such a sensitive issue for the state, which has a huge potential for development in this area.”

Bahia’s Energy Transition
On a formal agenda in China, the State Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti) André Joazeiro revealed that he is working on the Energy Transition Technology Park project while focusing on the issue of green hydrogen. The project will be carried out at Camaçari on a plot of land that is about 50 hectares in size. It is the first enlarged space of the Technological Park of Bahia and is a part of the internalisation policy outlined in the PGP.
“The park will give priority to sustainability-related projects with a decarbonization focus. The first item on the agenda will be the production of renewable energy from sources including wind, solar, and hydrogen fuel cells, all of which have significant promise in the state.” Joazeiro opined. Four significant businesses, both domestic and foreign, will launch the park and contribute a combined 1.7 billion dollars to Bahian research. As soon as the agreements with the government are signed, the companies will be disclosed.
