Next year, the Sif factory on the Maasvlakte will begin testing the production of green hydrogen from wind power. The monopile manufacturer is collaborating with Pondera, KCI engineers, and GE Renewable Energy on this endeavor.
These companies have struck an agreement to cooperate. The objective of the AmpHytrite project is to “gain control” over the creation of green hydrogen at sea.
Three periods
It includes three phases. The first is a feasibility study on offshore, off-grid green hydrogen production. The second phase entails the development and construction of a production unit that will be located in close proximity to the Sif facility on the Maasvlakte. This will operate solely on the electricity produced by the Haliade wind turbine.
This GE wind turbine can be seen on the Sif property. The objective is to generate 750 tons of renewable hydrogen per year. The objective of the second phase is to establish proof of concept. The third phase involves scaling up the concept in order to implement it on a large scale in an offshore wind farm.
