After 11 businesses expressed interest in using such infrastructure, French gas transmission company GRTgaz will carry out a feasibility study on low-carbon hydrogen supply to the industrial and port area of Dunkirk.
GRTgaz announced today that the research would consider a potential 20 km (12 mi) structure with the ability to transfer 600 to 1,000 MW along a route connecting the projects of the study’s co-financiers, including ArcelorMittal, Imerys, and producer H2V.
Six consumers and five hydrogen producers replied to the interest call, according to GRTgaz.
This new infrastructure may someday be connected to Belgium, according to GRTgaz CEO Thierry Trouvé. “The enormous role that hydrogen will play in the future in the decarbonization of the economy is verified,” he said.
