Siemens Gamesa has achieved a significant milestone by successfully linking a wind turbine to an electrolyzer, advancing the offshore wind green hydrogen plan. This breakthrough follows a series of onshore R&D initiatives and sets a precedent for future tests to produce renewable hydrogen directly from turbines installed at sea.

The H2Mare offgrid test site located in Denmark has been pivotal for this development. Siemens Gamesa, in collaboration with Siemens Energy and RWE, has demonstrated that the integration of wind turbines with electrolysers is not only feasible but also a game-changer for renewable energy production. The project’s success is crucial for transitioning to greener energy sources.
