First hydrogen fueling station in Slovenia will be delivered by Haskel Hydrogen Systems, working with ECUBES Technologies, to support the creation of a first European cross-border Hydrogen Valley in the North Adriatic region.

The refueling station for hydrogen-fuelled vehicles was inaugurated at Salonit Anhovo, as part of a summit event attended by high-ranking government officials from Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy, to mark the establishment and development of the North Adriatic Cross-Border Hydrogen Valley.

The ECUBES Zero Emission Mobility Corridor project’s first deployment is at the fueling station. It’s a joint venture between the companies ECUBES and SALONIT ANHOVO, and this is the first step toward the development of a larger refueling infrastructure as hydrogen vehicles are deployed in the country. The hydrogen is expected to come from the site’s excess industrial heat, resulting in environmentally friendly hydrogen for the vehicles.

Aleksander Gerbec, CEO ECUBES, commented: “The North Adriatic Cross-Border Hydrogen Valley will bring together stakeholders from across the region has immense potential for provision of clean energy of the future and attainment of environment targets, and allows building a competitive and innovative North Adriatic region with several new highly specialized jobs of the future.

“Easy scalable solution like NANO, in a combination with proprietary energy storage solution – Inorganic Liquid Hydrogen Carrier technology H2GENIUM, enables safe and efficient response to the growing demand for Hydrogen refuelling infrastructure. ”

Stephen Learney, Vice President and General Manager of Haskel, said: “The Nano station installed on site at SALONIT ANHOVO is perfect for this type of application and is designed to be easily scaled as the project develops and demand for hydrogen refuelling increases.

“Refuelling capability is an important part of developing the infrastructure needed to support the creation of the North Adriatic Cross-Border Hydrogen Valley and rapid implementation will be beneficial to the entire region, attracting investment and creating jobs. Haskel is pleased to be involved in this project.”

For fleets with smaller needs, Haskel Nano refueling stations are a convenient, plug-and-play solution. Smaller in size, the Nano stations can be easily moved between customer sites, depots, and new construction sites. This allows them to be used for a variety of purposes.
