HPC Hamburg Port Consulting (HPC) has been hired by the municipality of Helgoland to conduct a concept study for the development of a hydrogen bunkering station on the deep-sea island, which is located about 155 kilometers northwest of Hamburg.
HPC will have to conduct the study to determine whether the island is commercially viable and has the necessary infrastructure to serve as a possible source of H2 fuel for North Sea marine traffic.
The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding the hydrogen lead project TransHyDe, which includes the concept research for a hydrogen bunker station in Helgoland.
