Together, Honda and General Motors are developing a revolutionary hydrogen fuel cell system. Both brands’ long-term plans for both of their brands include this innovative alliance. By the middle of the decade, Honda wants to sell about 2,000 units of the new system annually, and by 2030, it wants to sell 60,000 units annually. The Japanese manufacturer aims to expand the use of its new system in commercial vehicles, including as heavy trucks, stationary power stations, and construction equipment in addition to its own fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
A hydrogen fuel cell system is a type of energy conversion device that uses an electrochemical reaction to produce electricity. It comprises of a stack of fuel cells that convert airborne oxygen and hydrogen fuel into power, heat, and water vapor.
