Five hydrogen diaphragm compressors from Howden will be delivered to Atura Power’s Niagara Hydrogen Centre in Ontario, Canada, under a contract that was just signed.

The Niagara Falls, Ontario, project will generate 20 MW of green hydrogen using sustainable hydroelectricity, which will power electrolyzers to create hydrogen. Hydrogen from the electrolyzers will be compressed using Howden’s hydrogen compressors for on-site, transient storage.

The Halton Hills Generating Station of Atura Power will transport and mix the low-carbon hydrogen produced by this project into the fuel stream, producing cleaner energy for Ontario and serving as the province’s largest green hydrogen production facility.

Through the development and supply of its hydrogen compressors, technology, and services, Howden is assuming a leadership role in hydrogen compression and the energy transition, and it announced a number of significant projects in 2022.
