Hy2gen and Deep Wind Offshore Propel Offshore Wind-Hydrogen Integration

Hy2gen, a global powerhouse in renewable hydrogen, has joined forces with Deep Wind Offshore, an offshore wind power expert. The partnership leverages the strengths of both entities, combining Hy2gen’s expertise in renewable hydrogen production with Deep Wind Offshore’s prowess in offshore wind development.

The overarching goal of this collaboration is to contribute significantly to the global net-zero agenda. The focus is on harnessing a massive amount of renewable energy, with hydrogen emerging as a key player in this endeavor. Aligning with the EU’s climate target, the collaboration seeks to ensure that 42% of hydrogen in the industry comes from renewable sources by 2030.

One of the primary challenges in offshore wind development lies in access and capacity in the power grid. The synergy between offshore wind and hydrogen presents an innovative solution. By directly using the power from offshore wind in the production of green energy carriers, such as hydrogen, the collaboration aims to eliminate the hurdles associated with grid limitations. This integration of technologies paves the way for a more efficient and direct utilization of renewable energy.

Hy2gen’s commitment to converting offshore wind energy into various energy solutions, including hydrogen, ammonia, SAF, or methanol, positions Norway as a global leader in the renewable energy market. The collaboration aims to develop competitive projects with a robust market focus, fostering increased exports and value creation. The early initiation of such initiatives places Norway in a prime position to lead the world in sustainable energy solutions.
