During his accountability speech to Parliament, President Luis Lacalle Pou emphasized the development of the second energy revolution, which is focused on electric mobility, green hydrogen, energy efficiency, and the circular economy.
The H2U initiative, which produces green hydrogen or derivative fuels, is being developed by the Executive Branch in this respect. Uruguay has begun to layout its green hydrogen strategy, which is centered on the establishment of discussion tables that express the contributions of the public sector, commercial sectors, and academics.
Green hydrogen is created without the use of fossil fuels and only from renewable energy sources, making it environmentally beneficial.
The Executive Branch announced the establishment of a Green Hydrogen Sector Fund, which would provide funding of up to $10 million. Based on a request for proposals, this new Sectorial Fund intends to encourage the first fruitful hydrogen experiences and knowledge production.
