This year, the government will spend 1.2 trillion won on technological research in energy domains such as solar, wind, and hydrogen.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and the Korea Energy Technology Assessment Service conducted the ‘E-Tech Conference that opens a carbon-neutral future’ at COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and announced the project’s path.

This year, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy expects to invest 1.246 trillion won on energy technology development, up 10% from the previous year. There will be 183.5 billion won allocated to 23 initiatives, including the new and renewable energy core development project, as well as 122 research and development projects.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy also revealed research findings from large-scale, mid-to-long-term technological development initiatives in the carbon-neutral area.

The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology has improved the efficiency of polymer film-based flexible perovskite solar cells to the greatest level in the world (21.03 percent , based on 0.1cm2).

Unison created a large-capacity wind power generator design and manufacturing technology, as well as a strategy to enhance the performance test standard (KS C IEC 60034-1) for 8MW (megawatt) level generators in the wind power area.

For the first time in Korea, STX Energy Solution received KS certification as well as new product certification for 1kW and 2kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems for buildings.

Seoul Energy Corporation demonstrated a distributed and autonomous micro thermal energy network as well as a multi-stage heating and cooling system based on low-temperature heat in the new energy sector.

Hanyang University completed the development of piezoelectric and photoelectric components for low-light indoor situations and module demonstration based on the development of high-output piezoelectric and photoelectric energy harvester technology in the field of efficiency improvement.
