Construction of a new hydrogen plant is in full swing in Massena, a project spearheaded by Air Products.

This facility, designed to produce liquid hydrogen, is situated north of the village and entails a substantial investment of $500 million. The construction phase is projected to last two years, during which approximately 200 jobs will be created. Upon completion, the plant will employ around 90 individuals.

A strategic collaboration with the New York Power Authority ensures the plant will benefit from low-cost electricity. This power is sourced from the nearby hydropower dam on the St. Lawrence River, highlighting the project’s reliance on renewable energy. Additionally, the plant’s operations will require water from the river, further integrating local natural resources into its production processes.
