In Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, the “Hydrogen Product Inspection Support Center,” which will be crucial to the legal inspection of hydrogen products, will be built.
At the Wanju Techno Valley Center building site, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation officially broke ground and got work under way.
The Hydrogen Products Inspection Support Center will be finished in May 2024 and has a total floor area of 7,760m2 on a site that is 30,276m2. It consists of three structures, including a test building, a main building, and a customer support building. There will be an estimated 490 billion invested in the project overall.
As part of developing a hydrogen safety core infrastructure, Korea Gas Safety Corporation has been advocating the creation of an inspection support center to confirm the safety of hydrogen goods.
Four different types of hydrogen goods can only be delivered domestically after passing the legal inspection conducted by the Gas Safety Corporation since the hydrogen law went into effect in earnest in February of this year.
The Inspection Support Center intends to oversee the supply of safe hydrogen products in the future and to further enhance the competitiveness of the hydrogen sector through programs including the inspection and evaluation/certification of hydrogen goods.
Additionally, it is anticipated that with the opening of the inspection support center, export assistance through the acquisition of foreign certifications, R&D collaboration duties, and standardization of hydrogen product manufacturing and inspection standards will be actively carried out.
