The government has added two fuel cell technologies to the list of national core technologies while designating the hydrogen industry as one.

The Ordinance on Designation of National Core Technologies will be revised and published, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy announced on Wednesday.

The automotive sector has been the sole user of hydrogen technologies, which have been classified as national core technologies. The hydrogen industry has now been included in the ministry’s list of 12 sectors, though.

Also, it is reclassified as fuel cell-related technologies for the design, production, diagnosis, and control of fixed-type fuel cells.

Also, it included air conditioning systems and electric powertrain systems (motor and inverter) to the list of national key technologies for designing and manufacturing hybrid power-based car systems.

These systems are seen as technologies needing immediate protection measures since domestic enterprises have the same degree of technology as their overseas competitors.
