Over NIS 23 million will be spent on first-of-its-kind innovative energy projects, Israel’s Energy Ministry said.
Nineteen entrepreneurs will get money for their energy products because they answered the government’s call for new ideas in the fields of smart transportation, water supply, and energy efficiency.
Among the main investments made by the Energy Ministry this year, worth about NIS 12 million, is a project that focuses on the development and use of hydrogen as a fuel for trucks and other vehicles that move goods. Hydrogen would be very useful as a fuel for heavy-duty vehicles because it has a lot of energy per pound. As much power as a gallon of diesel fuel, 1 kg of hydrogen can be used in the same way.
The state has bought six freight vehicles, three buses, two forklifts, and a hydrogen refueling system that can be used on the go to help make hydrogen more popular as a transportation fuel.
This is the first big investment in hydrogen as a good alternative fuel for big cars and trucks since the government said it would support the project to build the first hydrogen fueling station in Israel.
