The Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in Indonesia and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) have decided to work together on ammonia-fired gas turbine research and development.
The project will investigate ammonia firing optimization using the Institut Teknologi Bandung’s (ITB) specific skills in chemical reaction engineering.
The R&D partners will work toward the commercial use of ammonia-fired power generation in Indonesia after demonstration testing with MHI’s H-25 gas turbine.
The facilities at ITB will be used for joint research and development on ammonia-fired power generation, with three main goals in mind: to advance Indonesia’s adoption of clean energy sources; to foster technological and personnel exchanges with ITB’s educators and research team members; and to promote technology development between Japan and Indonesia.
