J-POWER has joined Germany’s green hydrogen program “AquaVentus,” which was launched in December 2020 by 26 renowned international corporations, organizations, and research institutions.

It now has almost 60 members. Numerous initiatives are currently proposed as part of the AquaVentus effort, with the goal of generating green hydrogen by 2035 using electricity supplied by a 10GW offshore wind farm. J-POWER thinks that by joining the Consortium, it will gain vital knowledge in the production, transportation, and use of green hydrogen. J-POWER will leverage this benefit to accelerate its commitment to achieving a netzero society.

AquaVentus’ long-term goal is to manufacture green hydrogen at sea, with a clear vision of generating ten gigawatts of green hydrogen from offshore wind energy and delivering it to land by 2035. This might provide a game-changing incentive for the energy transition and for CO2 emissions reductions in the transportation and industrial sectors.
