JD Logistics, a leading supply chain and logistics service provider in China, has announced a large-scale implementation of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks.

This move aligns with the company’s commitment to clean energy usage and environmental stewardship, marking a pivotal moment in the transformation of China’s logistics sector.

JD Logistics aims to revolutionize the logistics landscape in China by introducing a fleet of 31-foot heavy-duty trucks, each boasting an 18-ton carrying capacity. The overarching goal is to substantially reduce carbon dioxide emissions, contributing to the company’s broader environmental initiative known as “Go Zero.” This ambitious transportation plan emphasizes shared responsibility and collaborative efforts to minimize carbon emissions across the entire supply chain.

While specific details about the hydrogen-powered trucks’ manufacturer and powertrain remain undisclosed, JD Logistics emphasizes the vehicles’ high efficiency. With an impressive range of 250 miles on a single 10-minute refueling session, these trucks are engineered for optimal performance. Operating on hydrogen fuel cells, they offer superior environmental adaptability, capable of functioning in extreme temperatures ranging from -22F to 113F. The hydrogen-powered trucks are projected to have a service life of up to 10 years, presenting a more sustainable and cost-effective solution compared to traditional gasoline and electric vehicles.

The deployment of hydrogen-powered trucks is anticipated to have a substantial impact on carbon emissions, with an approximate reduction of 1,000 tons per year. JD Logistics’ commitment to embracing cleaner energy alternatives signifies a pivotal shift in the logistics sector, setting an example for environmentally conscious transportation practices in China.
