The Korea Railroad Corporation said that it had inked an MOU with KHNP to expand collaboration in hydrogen convergence projects on idle sites.

The two organizations have agreed to collaborate on the creation of a hydrogen convergence business model employing idle railway land and the identification of system improvements as part of this agreement. The purpose is to not only actively respond to the government’s hydrogen economy revival program, but also to lead in the realization of public institutions’ social ideals.

As a result, the Korea Railroad Corporation offers state-owned properties associated to railways, such as abandoned stations, abandoned lines, and idle land. KHNP intends to encourage hydrogen-based convergence projects such as distributed hydrogen fuel cell power generation at railway stations, hydrogen charging stations, and smart farms.

“We will aggressively collaborate in creating infrastructure for a jump toward a hydrogen economy society,” said Kim Han-young, head of the Korea Railroad Corporation.
