Lhyfe, a global leader in green and renewable hydrogen production, joins forces with AREC Occitanie to inaugurate the Lhyfe Occitanie site. This facility stands as a pivotal element in the Occitanie H2 Corridor project.

The project aims to decarbonize goods and passenger transport, aligning with the region’s ambitious €150 million “Green Hydrogen” plan. Lhyfe, building on its success in the Pays de la Loire region, marks a milestone by inaugurating two new production units, each boasting five times the production capacity of its historic site. This strategic move aligns with Lhyfe’s commitment to large-scale industrial deployment, with additional sites in the pipeline across Europe.

Situated at the Triangle business park in Bessières, Lhyfe Occitanie will produce up to two tonnes of green and renewable hydrogen daily, with room for scalable production to meet evolving demands. The hydrogen, produced through water electrolysis using renewable electricity, holds the promise of decarbonizing transport by supplying green hydrogen to trucks, coaches, and other fuel cell vehicles.

The Occitanie Region, spearheading the Occitanie H2 Corridor project, envisions the deployment of two renewable hydrogen production facilities by the end of 2024. This endeavor includes the establishment of hydrogen fuel stations, hydrogen-powered trucks, refrigerated trailers, and interurban buses retrofitted to run on hydrogen. The comprehensive plan reflects the region’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions in goods and passenger transport.

Lhyfe introduces a groundbreaking “semi-centralized” model, producing hydrogen locally and distributing it across the region. This approach allows industry players, transport/logistics providers, and local authorities to access green and renewable hydrogen without the need for individual production facilities. The model caters to varying needs, supporting both trial phases and long-term decarbonization strategies.

“Containerized” format

In a showcase of innovation, Lhyfe unveils its new “containerized” format in Bessières. This compact, modular industrial design reduces the footprint of production sites, promoting scalability to meet regional needs effectively. Lhyfe Occitanie, covering approximately 8,000 sq. meters, comprises containerized buildings dedicated to different functions, creating a streamlined and efficient operational environment.

Lhyfe, committed to promoting hydrogen adoption, launched the Lhyfe Heroes digital platform in 2022. This platform provides essential information for transitioning to hydrogen, including simulators, catalogs of hydrogen players, and an Ecosystems module. In Occitanie, Lhyfe Heroes facilitates access to a Group Buy Offer, making hydrogen-powered vehicles more accessible to local players.

In essence, the inauguration of Lhyfe Occitanie signifies a leap forward in the journey towards sustainable and green hydrogen production.
