Lyfe, a renewable green hydrogen production company, has teamed up with DORIS, an offshore engineering firm, on an offshore hydrogen production project.
Lhyfe and DORIS intend to deploy the first floating wind turbines that can be integrated with hydrogen production systems, as well as discover large-scale solutions.
The two firms will sign a memorandum of agreement just weeks after Lhyfe’s Bouin production plant in Vendée starts producing the first hundreds of kilos of carbon-free green hydrogen.
The two businesses announced that “this world-first operating expertise will be utilized to finish the development of DORIS and Lhyfe’s patented solution, Nerehyd.”
“This unique device combines Lhyfe’s green renewable hydrogen knowledge with DORIS’s Nerewind floating wind turbine technology. On-grid is the Nerehyd solution, which integrates hydrogen production equipment onto a wind turbine floater. It can also be used in off-grid applications, ranging from tiny 10-megawatt wind turbines to large-scale wind power facilities with hundreds of megawatts of capacity, according to the two businesses.
According to a press release issued on Monday, the project expenditure would be roughly 60 million euros (including R&D and manufacture of the first prototype in 2025).
