The largest green hydrogen and ammonia production complex in the Mediterranean is being planned on Mallorca.

The project, spearheaded by the Go Energy Group from the United Arab Emirates, will be located in Llucmajor on a plot equivalent to 400 football fields. With an estimated investment of 200 million euros, the facility is expected to be operational by 2027. It aims to produce 300 tons of green hydrogen and ammonia daily. This production will not only cater to the Balearic Islands’ needs but is also meant for export.

The president of the Go Energy Group highlighted the project’s significance, mentioning that it will create hundreds of jobs. Despite this ambitious plan, neither the Llucmajor municipality nor the Balearic government reportedly has official information about the project. The company has requested meetings with government representatives to gain the necessary support.

The Go Energy Group has previously launched renewable energy and industrial projects in Andalusia and Valencia. The group’s global presence highlights its commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions.

The infrastructure project will position Mallorca as the first hydrogen hub in Southwest Europe. It aims to benefit 115,000 households and 2,000 commercial and industrial consumers.
