In industrial areas where it is more challenging to cut emissions, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) intends to choose projects that implement the substitution of fossil fuels with low-carbon hydrogen.
The public notice for the presentation of the project proposals that will be funded under the PNRR chapter “Use of hydrogen in hard-to-abbot sectors” was announced by the Ministry (Measure M2C2 – Investment 3.2). The National Recovery and Resilience Plan has allotted 1 billion euros to this project.
The measure encourages the development of industrial decarbonization plans that together include the utilization of renewable hydrogen, low-carbon hydrogen, and the development of technological prototypes. All initiatives that qualify for funding must guarantee fossil fuel savings, up to maximums of 90% and in any case, not less than 10%.
