Metacon AB announced the launch of a demo program for the company’s H2PS-5 product. Xoma AB will be the first customer to benefit from the initiative.

The program allows a limited number of consumers to purchase the product at a discounted price in exchange for active engagement in Metacon’s ongoing marketing and technical follow-up efforts. Xoma AB, situated in Gothenburg, has reached an agreement with Metacon to purchase H2PS-5 for its activities in sustainable marine product cultivation. After CE marking has been authorized, delivery will begin.

Xoma AB is a Swedish firm that produces a closed system for cultivating marine products and is active in sustainable marine cultivation of, among other things, giant prawns and algae (so-called CLAS systems). Major sustainability benefits can be realized with the technology and solution that Xoma employs. For example, the necessity for regular water exchange, which is a concern in traditional farming processes, can theoretically be eliminated entirely.

The H2PS-5 from Metacon is a CHP (combined heat and power) system that transforms (for example) biogas into hydrogen for continuous generation of electricity and heat, independent of the energy grid.

Xoma’s CEO Dennis Pedersén comments on the collaboration: “We at Xoma AB look forward to a collaboration with Metacon. The technology from Metacon gives us a unique way to drive our circular cultivation. The fact that the module can convert biogas into electricity and thermal power in a perfect mix is what has led us to choose Metacon, which gives us a huge advantage over competitors.”

Christer Wikner, President and CEO of Metacon: “Xoma has an exciting solution for sustainable marine cultivation under development. In combination with Metacon’s technology in the CHP field, we can combine two cutting-edge technologies into a complete application with the potential to fundamentally change this area towards sustainable circular processes in marine production environments”.
