A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Metacon and the Polish Regional Directorate of State Forests (RDSF) in Katowice.
The Memorandum of Understanding pertains to the preparations preparatory to an anticipated order and supply of a turnkey electrolyser system with a maximum capacity of 5 MW. If fully utilized within the MoU, the estimated order will be worth roughly 5.8 MUSD.
The MoU is a component of RDSF’s “Forest of Energy” development initiative, which intends to make investments in fossil-free energy and hydrogen as well as to start building a number of facilities for producing green hydrogen, which will be used to power emission-free public transportation. The project is scheduled to begin in 2023, and hydrogen production will begin in early 2024.
The electrolyser with a maximum capacity of 5 MW will be connected to a future RDSF solar PV installation in the Katowice area as the pilot project under the terms of the MoU. The following stage of the preparations will involve cooperative detailed design and dimensioning. RDSF will own and operate the PV system, and Metacon will provide the infrastructure and electrolyser equipment.
President and CEO of Metacon Christer Wikner said: “We are very glad to work with RDSF to support Poland’s transformation to a greener economy. The ability to store locally generated fossil-free energy in hydrogen and utilize it to power emission-free transportation is the essence of our goal of assisting in the development of self-sufficient and sustainable civilizations.
