ANERT appointed green hydrogen nodal agency

ANERT is the State’s Green Hydrogen nodal agency. The Power Department’s decision was based on ANERT’s CEO’s proposal for a single nodal agency to draft and publish the green hydrogen policy, assist investors, develop a single-window approval system and grievance redressal mechanism, and coordinate with State and Central government agencies.

The State government wants to construct “green hydrogen hubs” in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram to promote eco-friendly growth and reduce carbon emissions with renewable energy-produced hydrogen. A 200-crore viability gap finance, grant, and equity plan for hubs was announced in the 2023-24 State budget.

The State’s green hydrogen program supports its goal of 100% renewable energy by 2040 and net carbon neutral by 2050. The Union Cabinet authorized the National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2022 to make India energy independent by 2047 and net zero by 2070.


Endua launches hydrogen power bank application

Endua has announced its standalone hydrogen power banks that were specifically created to fill the gap in microgrid applications.

The new technology from the Australian company will help microgrid applications where the demand for dependable power necessitates reliance on energy sources with high emissions, such diesel generators.

The company’s headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, is home to the energy storage system, which will utilise cutting-edge hydrogen technology and act as a testing ground.

Each power bank is six meters long by three meters wide and can support power loads of up to 100 kW per unit, enough to run a freestanding communications infrastructure, a farm shed, or a water pump.

Fuel cells use the stored renewable energy to turn hydrogen into power, and because the solutions are modular, they may be expanded to meet local demand.


Universal Hydrogen Lightning McClean Dash 8-300 makes second flight

More than three months after its first flight, Universal Hydrogen’s De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300 has completed a second flight.

The hydrogen fuel cell-powered turboprop aircraft departed from Grant County International Airport (MWH), located in Moses Lake, Washington, the United States (US). The business claims that during the 30-minute flight, the N330EN-registered aircraft ascended to 5,000 feet and increased the Dash 8-300’s envelope to 170 knots indicated airspeed (KIAS).


ANEEL receives donations from society to create DPI for H2V business

Society will contribute to ANEEL’s (National Electric Energy Agency) creation of a research, development, and innovation program (DPI) for the H2V (green hydrogen) industry.

Public Consultation no. 18/23, which has a contribution deadline of July 24th, is a crucial step in beginning the development of strategies for establishing a green hydrogen market in Brazil.

In order to reduce carbon emissions from industries like electricity, electro-intensive industry, and transportation, particularly large freight like ships and aircraft, hydrogen is a significant energy vector.

Coal, natural gas, electricity, and other energy sources can all be used to make hydrogen. When an object uses renewable energy sources like wind, sun, and biomass, it is said to be green.

Particularly in nations like Brazil, which has one of the most sustainable electricity grids in the world, the hydrogen industry should draw a lot of investment.


AECOM to supervise Chemours Company’s green hydrogen facility

The extension of The Chemours Company’s green hydrogen facility in Villers-Saint Paul, France, will be under the direction of AECOM.

The expansion, which is a component of the chemistry company’s $200 million French investment, will enable Chemours to boost production and enhance its NafionTM Ion Exchange materials for electrolysers.

Chemours claims that its Nafion membranes provide better hydrogen and oxygen separation over a wide range of pressures and temperatures, making them “ideally” equipped to address the rising need for environmentally friendly hydrogen generation.

Similar project management services were previously provided by AECOM to Chemours in the US.


Sarawak set to start producing green hydrogen

According to Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Sarawak is prepared to start large-scale commercial production of green hydrogen by 2027 in an effort to promote renewable energy and lessen its carbon impact.

He declared that the project, which was currently on schedule, was being worked on by the state and Korea. According to Abang Johari, Sarawak is also closely collaborating with Japan to manufacture green hydrogen for both internal consumption and export to Singapore and Japan.

He said that the state intended to adopt cleaner hydrogen energy sources more quickly in order to establish itself as South-East Asia’s first hydrogen-driven economy.


Korea launches first hydrogen power auction in the world

The government established a bidding market where energy producers can sell electricity generated with hydrogen or hydrogen compounds such as ammonia to Korea Electric Power Corp. (Kepco), the state-run power distributor, or other regional operators. On Friday, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy published a tender notice for hydrogen power.

Companies who produce electricity in Korea sell it to Kepco through the Korea Power Exchange. Renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, which are not subject to swings in fuel prices, are not traded in the traditional energy bid market under the Korea Power Exchange since electricity prices are established in the market in conjunction with fuel prices.


Baerbock aims to persuade Colombia to cooperate on energy

In Colombia, the fourth-largest nation in Latin America, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock advocated for closer cooperation in the energy and environmental fields. Following a meeting with Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez in the city of Cali on Thursday, the Green politician declared that Colombia “has enormous potential to become a heavyweight in renewables and green hydrogen.”

Baerbock emphasized shared objectives, such as promoting a feminist foreign policy or opposing Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. Other examples include a value- and order-oriented foreign policy. According to Baerbock, “Germany and Colombia also believe in our shared values and international cooperation.”


CJ Logistics enters transportation of gas and hydrogen market

With “Aprotium,” a hydrogen manufacturing and supply company, and “Hinet,” a hydrogen filling station operator, CJ Logistics stated on the 9th that it had inked a “mobility hydrogen business cooperation agreement.”

Aprotium said that with this deal, it would establish steady hydrogen supply and, over time, transform gray hydrogen—hydrogen obtained from natural gas and hydrogen produced as a byproduct in the petrochemical and steel industries—into clean hydrogen. Assuring aggressive hydrogen charging stations was Hynet’s pledge. The transportation for both businesses’ hydrogen operations will be handled by CJ Logistics.


Inter-departmental working group approves three more trial projects

The Inter-departmental Working Group on Using Hydrogen as Fuel has given its approval in principle to three more trial projects involving hydrogen fuel technology.

The Inter-departmental Working Group on Using Hydrogen as Fuel (the Working Group), which is led by the Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB), approved in principle three additional applications of trial projects for hydrogen fuel technology at its meeting on June 7, according to a representative for the EEB.

These three projects have been given agreement-in-principle. Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited requested permission to test out a hydrogen refueling station at Au Tau, Yuen Long; MTR Corporation Limited requested permission to test out a hydrogen-fueled light rail vehicle (LRV) in Tuen Mun without carrying passengers; and Linde HKO Limited requested permission to test out the use of a hydrogen tube trailer to deliver hydrogen.
