Eurosonic Noorderslag tried hybrid solar/hydrogen generator
The 38th iteration of the Eurosonic Noorderslag music festival was held in Groningen last weekend. This year’s noteworthy addition was Volta Energy’s hybrid solar/hydrogen generator, which provided electricity to a portion of the “artist village.” Everything regarding hydrogen played a part in the creation and experimentation.
Customers in the construction, festival, and event sectors can produce sustainable off-grid energy with Volta Energy. For this reason, Volta Energy has created hybrid generators with capacities ranging from 6 to 120 kVA.
Toyota Growth Fund invests in Corvus Energy to develop hydrogen fuel cells
In order to accelerate the development of its battery storage and hydrogen fuel cells and broaden its geographic reach, Woven Capital, Toyota’s growth fund, has invested in Corvus Energy, a provider of zero-emission energy solutions for maritime, offshore, and port applications.
Pelican Fuel Cell System from Corvus. Thanks to Corvus Energy
Since 2021, Corvus and Toyota have worked together to create safer and more sophisticated marine fuel cell systems for the market. According to the firm, the new investment will give Corvus even greater access to Toyota’s fuel cell and battery technological knowledge.
With this investment, Woven Capital will become one of the top strategic investors in Corvus, alongside Shell Ventures, BW Group, Equinor Ventures, and Hydro.
Hydrogen mobility development by MOL and domestic companies
According to Index, MOL, Volánbusz, MÁV, and Waberer’s have inked a strategic partnership agreement to advance hydrogen mobility. According to MOL Hungary’s Managing Director György Bacsa, investments in hydrogen fuel are warranted.
The colorless, odorless gas known as hydrogen plays a significant role in the energy sector. It can be utilized as a form of blending agent, taking the place of natural gas, or for energy storage. Hydrogen finds application in the chemical industry and in the manufacturing of fuels.
Microsoft data center installs Caterpillar hydrogen fuel cell tech
The success of Caterpillar’s partnership with Microsoft and Ballard Power Systems to showcase the feasibility of employing large-format hydrogen fuel cells as a dependable and sustainable backup power source for data centers was announced. The demonstration offered insightful information about fuel cell systems’ capacity to give continuous power to multi-megawatt data centers, meeting 99.999% uptime criteria.
The demonstration verified the hydrogen fuel cell power system’s operation in subfreezing temperatures and at 6,086 feet (1,855 meters) above sea level in a demanding setting.
AquaVentus: Early North Sea auction needed for hydrogen ramp-up
The chairman of the German offshore wind-to-hydrogen initiative AquaVentus, Jörg Singer, has demanded a prompt tender for the extension of offshore electrolysis. He claims that a key requirement for the acceleration of the hydrogen market is the impending commencement of the auction for the Noth Sea region SEN-1, a 100 km2 area in the North Sea set aside for hydrogen production.
Singer advocated the final implementation of the tender and its design to allow for the economically viable and efficient production of green hydrogen at sea.
