myFC takes part in new project launched by RISE

RISE (Research Institute of Sweden) is the project owner, and myFC is a participant in an innovation project that begins in early 2022.

The project, which will be carried out in collaboration with three other companies – Clean Motion, Bevi, and Micropower – will focus on developing powertrains for softmobility vehicles like taxi pods and other similar applications.

The goal of the project is to create a variety of electric drivetrains that require minimal charging infrastructure. There will be significant benefits in the case of a taxi pod, for example, a vehicle that should be able to run for as many hours as possible during the day. The need for parking spaces will be reduced if the vehicle can be out and rolling for a greater portion of the time, which is especially costly in large cities where taxi pods have their greatest benefits.

Another feature that makes myFC’s malleable and scalable LAMINA TM technology ideal for the job is its ability to adapt to small-space applications. It sets the company’s fuel cells apart from the stacked, clumsy, and space-consuming fuel cells that are commonly found on the market.
The other companies that are taking part have a variety of specializations. Clean Motion is a future-oriented mobility company that makes the three-wheeled electric vehicle Zbee and the delivery vehicle Re: volt, among other things. Micropower focuses on the development of battery charging and power supply solutions, as well as modular lithium-ion batteries. Bevi has been producing electric motors since the early 1930s and specializes in electric drive systems and power generation.

The companies will work on a fuel cell-powered driveline that is optimized for smaller vehicles, as well as an electrified driveline, a solar cell body for testing energy autonomy with battery storage, and a custom-made electric motor without permanent magnets as part of the project.

The Swedish Energy Agency is funding the project (Energimyndigheten). It begins in early 2022 and runs through the end of 2023.
