Nel Hydrogen US, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has received a purchase order valued at approximately USD 7 million for two containerized PEM electrolyser units.
These two MC500 electrolysers, each with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts, are intended for hydrogen production at a new steel mill in the United States.
The customer, which remains undisclosed, is recognized as one of the largest steel producers in the U.S. and has previously utilized Nel’s PEM electrolysers to generate hydrogen at two other operational sites in the country.
Cartwright further noted the growing demand for containerized PEM electrolysers for smaller installations, highlighting their reliability and ease of outdoor installation and operation. The firm order for the two PEM MC500 units will be fulfilled at Nel’s manufacturing facility located in Wallingford, Connecticut.
