In Quintero Bay, Chile, plans have been presented for a brand-new electrolysis plant that will produce roughly 500 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
Enagás, ACCIONA Energa, and GNL Quintero have collaborated on a $30 million project that will provide hydrogen as an alternative energy source as Chile attempts to reduce emissions.
The plant, which will be located at the GNL Quintero regasification terminal, will have a normal power of 10MW, which will gradually increase based on the demand for green hydrogen in the area.
Chile is considering using it in a variety of industries, including mining, ports (either alone or in combination with natural gas), and transportation, among others. Mining, in particular, is a major concern for the country.
