“The forefront of an energy transition wave” in the United States is what Andres Fernandez sees as a tremendous opportunity for WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, to guide its Energy clients through.

Since joining the firm in 2017, Fernandez has been in charge of helping clients achieve their environmental, social, and governance goals by reducing carbon emissions and promoting new energy sources. He will now lead the firm’s efforts to shape the hydrogen economy.

Prior to this, he worked as a vice president for major energy projects at WSP, where he supported project managers in the delivery of numerous projects while managing large, complex projects. When he first started working for WSP, he was the country manager for Peru, a role he had previously held for Golder, which is now part of WSP.

Phillips 66 underground storage project in Brazoria County, Texas, was Fernandez’s first major project as a project manager. WSP delivered two large caverns and a leaching facility on time and on budget. This project (ACES), which is on track to become the United States’ largest green hydrogen storage facility, receives his support at the moment.

Her undergraduate degree in civil engineering is from the University of California at Irvine, her master’s in structural engineering is from Stanford University, and she has a master’s in business administration from the San Telmo Business School in Saville, Spain. Project and Portfolio Management Professionals, as well as members of WSP USA’s Inclusion and Diversity Council, are among his credentials.

Working with clients all over the world, WSP has developed processes, networks, and storage facilities for low-carbon hydrogen generation and distribution. In order to meet the technical and financial requirements for hydrogen production, distribution, and storage, the company can assemble a global team of subject matter experts. Hydrogen production facilities, integrated hydrogen and carbon capture projects, and hydrogen storage caverns are just some of WSP’s hydrogen economy experience around the world.
