A new DKK 45 million fund to support the green transformation of the freight transport sector will open soon. The Danish Energy Agency is now inviting applications for grants to purchase new hydrogen and electric trucks.
On 25 June 2021, the government reached an agreement on the implementation of a pool for green transport with a number of parties, including the Left Party, the Danish People’s Party, the Socialist People’s Party, the Radical Left Party, the Unity Party, the Conservative People’s Party, the Liberal Alliance and the Alternative Party. The agreement will support the conversion of heavy goods transport by subsidising the purchase of green trucks, understood as hydrogen and electric trucks.
Parts of the agreement will be implemented by an order on subsidies for the purchase of new hydrogen and electric trucks, which will lay down the detailed rules for administering the subsidy pool, including requirements for applications, conditions for approval and payment of subsidies, and controls. The Order provides for the possibility of awarding grants for the purchase of new hydrogen and electric trucks corresponding to a proportion of the additional cost of purchasing such a truck rather than a diesel truck.

Applications must be submitted via an application portal, which will open on 15 August 2022.
The deadline for applications is 14 October 2022 at 12 noon.
Applicants can expect a response to their applications by mid-December 2022.
The pool will also be announced on Statenstilskudspuljer.dk.
