Newlab has partnered with Greater New Orleans (GNO), alongside major industry and regional stakeholders such as Shell, Battelle, Carbonvert, and Louisiana State University.

The collaboration aims to commercialize carbon management and clean hydrogen technologies through U.S. Department of Energy-funded programs.

The initiative will be spearheaded under two Department of Energy (DOE) funding opportunities awarded to Newlab. These programs will support carbon management and clean hydrogen startups by accelerating and de-risking their commercialization efforts.

The effort is named the Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC). Startups in the program will receive significant support, including developing pilot projects in south Louisiana. The founders will gain access to technical and commercial insights, collaboration with regional government and industry partners, and expert guidance to efficiently advance their projects.

The collaboration began with a two-day event where participating companies engaged with influential stakeholders like the U.S. Economic Development Administration, Louisiana Economic Development, and the National Science Foundation. The event included discussions on how climate tech innovation could drive Louisiana’s energy transition and featured an innovation showcase and pitch competition.
