NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has set the stage for transformative advancements in green energy with strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar.

The collaboration involves key partnerships with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) and Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited (GPPL), aiming to usher in a new era of sustainable energy solutions in the state.

The MoU with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) focuses on the integration of green hydrogen into GSPC’s gas networks. This collaboration is designed to pave the way for utilizing green hydrogen in transportation, emphasizing the establishment of green hydrogen fueling stations across Gujarat. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly mobility solutions.

NGEL’s agreement with Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited (GPPL) is geared towards creating a robust green hydrogen ecosystem. The collaboration encompasses the production of green ammonia on land allocated by GPPL, targeting both domestic and international markets. Additionally, the MoU explores the possibility of utilizing Pipavav Port as a central hub for NGEL to assess, develop, and operate offshore wind farms in Gujarat. This multi-faceted approach reflects a commitment to diversifying green energy sources and exploring innovative solutions.

In a related development, NTPC Limited issued a tender in January 2024 for a 15 MW floating solar project at Maroda reservoir-1 of NSPCL in Bhilai, Chattisgarh. This initiative underlines the organization’s commitment to harnessing solar energy’s potential across diverse landscapes.

Earlier in the same month, the results of NTPC Limited’s auction for the development of 1,500 MW of inter-state transmission system-connected solar power projects were unveiled. Apraava Energy, Avaada Energy, ReNew, and Anboto Solar (Solarpack) secured significant capacities with competitive bids, further solidifying India’s position in the global solar energy landscape.

NGEL’s collaborations and NTPC Limited’s recent endeavors collectively contribute to India’s growing emphasis on renewable energy. The initiatives showcase a concerted effort to not only reduce carbon footprint but also establish Gujarat as a key player in the nation’s transition to sustainable and cleaner energy sources.
