In order to assist Northern Gas Networks (NGN), Arup has been hired to conduct a pre-FEED study for the East Coast Hydrogen (ECH) project, with a particular emphasis on regions of their network, such as Teesside and the Humber.
In order to help the UK Government’s intentions to achieve its 2050 net-zero targets, ECH, a cooperative venture of the gas network operators Cadent, NGN, and National Grid Gas Transmission, seeks to connect 10GW of hydrogen production to the gas network in northeast England.
The Pre-FEED research is a part of Phase 1 and is scheduled to be finished in the middle of 2023. The 15-year work programme will be carried out in distinct phases to decarbonize the NGN network.
The study will move on to developing the design with enough data to finish a FEED study after the chosen solutions have been determined. Contributions to the routing corridors, a list of new assets needed, and knowledge of repurposed assets are all part of the FEED preparation process. With this choice, an evaluation of the overall and particular project obstacles will be recorded individually.
Arup has years of combined experience developing AGIs, modifying compressor stations, and pressure-reduction stations in addition to working on cross-country pipeline routings.
Eventually finished, East Coast Hydrogen seeks to establish the UK as a leader in the hydrogen industry by producing thousands of highly skilled jobs and substantial inward investment.
