A cooperation between Nikola Corporation and PGT Trucking has been launched to improve electric drive heavy-duty transport technology.
An LOI is being prepared to lease 100 Nikola Tre heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) following the successful conclusion of a Nikola Tre FCEV demonstration program on conditions that will be agreed upon by the parties involved in this partnership. The Nikola Tre FCEV, as well as planned maintenance and hydrogen fuelling solutions, will be included in the leasing order.
Production at Nikola’s Coolidge, Arizona manufacturing site is scheduled to begin in 2023, at which point deliveries of FCEVs to PGT are expected to begin.

The Nikola Tre FCEV cabover, which is intended for longer or continuous metro-regional applications, is expected to have a range of up to 500 miles. It will be an innovative addition to PGT’s freight hauling fleet, which serves the steel, building materials, machinery, oil & gas, raw materials, aluminum, and automotive industries, among others.
