The municipality of Noordenveld has obtained a subsidy of 250,000 euros from the province in order to purchase five hydrogen-powered corporate buses. These buses are used by municipal staff who are in charge of public space upkeep.

Noordenveld hopes to achieve its goal of being the most sustainable municipality in Drenthe by 2030, among other things, with the help of these buses. Another benefit is that these buses can tow large trailers.

The town and province hope to encourage hydrogen development by making it clear on the exterior that the cars operate on hydrogen. “We will continue to focus on hydrogen, and we want to make progress in hydrogen mobility apparent by supporting efforts like those of the municipality of Noordenveld,” stated deputy Tjisse Stelpstra.
