In order to promote the distinctive Quantron-as-a-Service offering for clients in the transportation and logistics business, Norwegian Hydrogen has joined with German Quantron AG to become a key partner in Quantron’s Clean Transportation Alliance.
This is a sizable contract for green hydrogen producer Norway Hydrogen and their refuelling firm Vireon because the Quantron-as-a-Service idea operates in a way that Quantron’s customers will only fuel their vehicles with hydrogen from Quantron’s preferred hydrogen providers.
The collaboration with QUANTRON will help Vireon move closer to its goal of establishing a network of 30 to 50 large-scale hydrogen refuelling stations by 2027.
Throughout the Nordics and the rest of Europe, there is a significant interest in and demand for fuel cell-powered heavy-duty / long-haul trucks. Before 2027, Vireon predicts that there will be more than 1,500 hydrogen-powered trucks operating in the Nordic nations. For such vehicles, a vast network of filling stations will be necessary, as well as the annual delivery of more than 20,000 tonnes of hydrogen. The number of trucks will thereafter increase quickly.
1500 hydrogen trucks on Nordic highways are predicted to reduce annual CO2 emissions from diesel cars by up to 250,000 tonnes. This is greater than the combined annual CO2 emissions of all residents of a sizable Norwegian city.
