Chile’s mining industry, renowned for its copper extraction, is set to undergo a significant transformation with the advent of green hydrogen projects spearheaded by H2 Green Mining and Ohmium.

The primary goal of the partnership between H2 Green Mining and Ohmium is to introduce green hydrogen technology to Chile’s mining sector, particularly in copper extraction processes. By leveraging renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, the project aims to mitigate carbon emissions associated with traditional mining practices.

Ohmium’s Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers play a pivotal role in green hydrogen production for mining operations. These electrolysers utilize renewable energy to split water molecules, producing hydrogen gas without emitting greenhouse gases. The generated green hydrogen will fuel thermal processes in copper smelting and potentially power trucks transporting minerals, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
