India’s first pure green hydrogen pilot plant with an installed capacity of 10 kilograms per day has been commissioned by Oil India Limited at its Jorhat Pump Station in Assam.
The plant uses a 100 kW Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolyser array to produce green hydrogen from the electricity generated by the existing 500kW solar plant. This is the first time AEM technology has been used in India.
Prime Minister’s goal of an energy-independent India has been achieved in part by the company. Green hydrogen production will increase from 10 kg per day to 30 kg per day at this plant in the future.
In collaboration with IIT Guwahati, the company has begun a comprehensive investigation into the impact of blending green hydrogen with natural gas on OIL’s existing infrastructure.
