Olin Corporation and Plug Power have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the goal of forming a joint venture (JV) to manufacture and distribute green hydrogen to serve the global hydrogen economy’s expanding fuel cell demand.

The JV is the first of its type, and it will ensure green hydrogen supply dependability and speed to market across North America, laying the groundwork for future collaboration between the two enterprises. Green hydrogen will be produced at the first facility at St. Gabriel, Louisiana, at a rate of 15 tons per day (tpd).

This collaboration brings together Olin, the biggest producer of electrolytic hydrogen in North America, and Plug Power, which is developing a worldwide green hydrogen ecosystem from end to end. Plug Power will sell the hydrogen and offer delivery logistics, while Olin will provide dependable hydrogen production and operational support under the JV.
