Origis Energy entered into a large-scale virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Royal DSM for renewable electricity from the Rockhound Solar C project.

The 61MW solar facility will be located in Ector County, Texas, and it will support DSM’s RE100 goals.

“This is the large step forward, representing approximately 40 percent of our total purchased electricity volume in the USA. A significant deal for DSM, in our journey to our commitment of sourcing 75 percent of our global electricity demand from renewable resources by 2030. We are excited to continue this journey with this Origis partnership, accelerating the transformation to renewable energy.  This is another example of how we actively look for collaborations to reduce GHG emissions and reach a low-carbon world for all.”

Harry Coorens, VP of DSM procurement sustainability.

The project was developed and financed by Origis Energy, who will also carry out the construction, which is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

Once completed, the project will produce approximately 160.000 MWh electricity annually.

“Our team is very pleased to work with DSM in the fulfillment of their RE100 goals. Providing clean energy solutions for the world’s leading companies, including those who have made these important 100 percent renewable energy commitments, inspires us every day. We thank the DSM team and the professionals at CustomerFirst Renewables for the opportunity to collaborate with them.”
