Osaka Gas has made a strategic investment in Koloma, a startup from the USA specializing in natural hydrogen exploration and production.

This move highlights Osaka Gas’ dedication to enhancing the production and use of natural hydrogen, an energy source recognized for being both affordable and clean. Current efforts to extract this resource are focused in the United States and Australia, using methods derived from traditional oil and gas drilling. Producing natural hydrogen results in fewer greenhouse gas emissions than conventional energy sources, making it an eco-friendly and cost-efficient energy option.

To meet the carbon neutrality goals established by over 120 countries and regions by 2050, the global community is focusing on the widespread adoption of carbon-free hydrogen and its derivatives like e-methane and ammonia. Natural hydrogen is expected to be a key contributor to achieving these objectives.

Koloma aims to commercialize natural hydrogen by utilizing its proprietary technologies and extensive global data for exploration and production. Partnering with Koloma allows Osaka Gas to investigate the potential of natural hydrogen as a sustainable energy source.
