Panasonic Corporation has created a pure hydrogen fuel cell generator that creates electricity through a chemical interaction between high-purity hydrogen and oxygen in the air.

With the acceleration of efforts to achieve a decarbonized society in recent years, numerous nations and regions throughout the world have stated their goal to decrease their overall greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050, or achieve carbon neutrality. Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and biomass power must be introduced in order to reach the aim. Solar and wind power generation, on the other hand, has limitations such as substantial output fluctuations depending on weather and the inability to modify power generation to meet demand. Furthermore, such power creation need a system that can store excess electricity in storage batteries or in other ways, as well as adjust for power shortages.

As a result, hydrogen is gaining popularity as a next-generation energy source. Hydrogen is the most plentiful element not only on Earth but also in the cosmos, and it can be utilized as thermal energy and electric power without producing CO2 through burning and chemical reactions. Hydrogen is also superior in terms of storing and utilizing energy since extra power may be used to transform renewable energy into hydrogen, which can then be stored safely for a long time. In light of this, the usage of hydrogen is projected to grow substantially.
