A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) and the Port of Himeji intends to increase the possibilities for energy commerce between Western Australia (WA) and Japan.
The MoU will promote cooperation and information sharing between the two ports about initiatives to use renewable energy and produce net zero carbon emissions. With strong trade ties to Western Australia, the western Japanese port of Himeji imports LNG, iron ore, oil, and salt from Pilbara ports.
As part of the Western Australian government’s effort to encourage investment in the State’s emerging industries, Premier Mark McGowan is on a trade mission to Japan.
The ports of Western Australia, according to Premier McGowan, are fundamental to the State’s export industries and will be crucial as the State welcomes new low-carbon firms and opportunities.
