Alstom and Plastic Omnium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on the development of high-end hydrogen storage systems for the railway industry.
Alstom and Plastic Omnium will collaborate in their respective sectors, combining their complementing know-how and capacities. The technical and commercial development of new and competitive hydrogen onboard storage systems for the railway sector has been delegated to a specialized team.

This will allow the two partners to launch hydrogen storage solutions on the market for regional trains in France and Italy in 2022, following development projects that have already begun, allowing direct journeys on non-electrified lines without using fossil fuels while meeting the challenges of sustainable development.
Rail, along with trucks, buses, and commercial fleets, was one of the first industries to create zero-emission hydrogen transportation, paving the way for new development opportunities in an exciting industry.
