Through the creation of hydrogen charging green mobility, the city of Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, begins to transform into the ‘hydrogen city of Pohang.’
The city held a meeting of the ‘Pohang Hydrogen Charging Green Mobility Infrastructure Construction Working Group’ at City Hall, where it confirmed the ‘Hydrogen Charging Green Mobility Infrastructure Implementation Plan for Next Year’ and submitted an application for a proposal for public recruitment of private capital subsidy operators to install general and special hydrogen charging stations. We made the decision to aggressively support the plan’s execution.”
The meeting included a presentation on the ‘Progress of the Jangheung Charging Station Construction Project in Pohang,’ which was promoted by the Korea Automobile Environment Association under the Ministry of Environment as a joint burden implementation with POSCO and Kohaigen, as well as the mid- to long-term plan for building hydrogen supply and charging infrastructure and a by-product hydrogen complex.’
In particular, in response to the energy conversion strategy in the transportation sector, LPG charging firms who desire to participate in the public offering project next year have opted to take the lead in entering the future hydrogen economy and society.
In addition, for the first time, the Pohang area will grant an 813 million won subsidy to begin the delivery of 25 hydrogen-powered vehicles next year.
“We will make efforts to attain carbon neutrality in 2050 and a speedy energy transition in the transportation sector by employing hydrogen energy coupled to fuel cell batteries, a new future industry in Pohang,” said Jeong Young-hwa, director of the Environment Bureau. We will cut greenhouse emissions in response to climate change and contribute to the realization of an eco-friendly future hydrogen economy city free of fine dust in parallel with the project.”
